Day 179: Great cardio workout!

Express Fit this morning was an awesome cardio and core workout. Our warm-up comprised three rounds of toe-taps, jumping squats, wide-leg squat creep, toe-taps: 50 seconds on, 10 seconds rest. Then we worked in pairs, with one lying on the floor and doing sit-ups with boxing gloves and a combination of punches, while the partner […]

All my soreness seems to have gone, and I was happy with my run today! I ran for an hour – probably about 9km – a bit more than I intended when I set out!  I added a ‘hill drill’ towards the end: 90 seconds running strongly up a hill, jog down – four times!  […]

Days 176-177: Sore and sorry!

Monday: just a rest day! I did some stretching in the evening, which probably helped the sore muscles quite a lot. Tuesday: Express Fit this morning – couldn’t really complete all the exercises – my body feels as if it’s in shock! And I keep finding new bruises! Instead of Yoga tonight, I’m going to […]

Day 175 – trail running

Since it’s Anzac Weekend, I decided to include the Attaturk Memorial in my run… which involved running the Eastern Walkway trail…. so tough. Once upon a time I could run all the way – now I have to walk the steepest steps – not enough spring in my step now! I fell twice, both times […]

Day 174

Just 1.5km to the netball courts – as a warm-up, with a couple of half-hearted bursts – feeling sluggish, no sleep last night! Netball – played three quarters, hard work but enjoyable, and we had a good win again.

Day 168 – a perfect running day

Went out about noon on a glorious Wellington Sunday…. I started off feeling a bit ginger from yesterday’s game, and wondered if ‘Plan B’, a shortened run, might have to come into action. But although I felt a bit tired, I soon settled into a rhythm, and my pace was OK. Even the hill (Pass […]

Played netball this morning – very hard work!!!  Running is just moving along in a straight line – no direction changes, no leaps into the air…. really feeling my age. Anyway, ran a couple of kms to warm up – included 5 short ‘sprints’. Not sure how I’m going to run for an hour and […]

Day 166 – an early morning run

It’s totally unlike me, but I agreed to a 6:15am run with a colleague! We had a gentle-paced 40 minutes, probably about 6km. The wind was strong (back to northerly today) – but only on the way out! I felt pretty good, considering the hour, and it really is a good time to run. Glad […]

Days 162-165: Struggle Street

Monday: Rest day – just a walk on the beach – about 45 minutes. Tuesday: 1.5k warm-up (included 3x40m sprints – for netball conditioning!), then Express Fit class. This was really, really hard work, and I could barely stay awake for the rest of the day! Totally trashed. Wednesday: Still suffering the after effects of […]
