Day 91

A wonderful summer day here – I was up and out reasonably early, but was wishing I’d been even earlier by the end, as it got really warm!  No wind to speak of, which was good, and meant that I ran quite a bit faster than last week for the first 8.5km. The waterfront really was teeming with peopel out enjoying themselves – there was an ocean-swimming race in progress, and, of course, the usual Sunday markets near Waitangi Park.

On the return, my plan called for a slight increase in pace over the last 5k, and I managed that for two of them! Then I lost it! I was just so hot – stopped at every tap to fill my cap with water and pour it over my head! By the last km, I was even taking the odd walk break.

But overall, it was a lovely morning for a run, and I’m pleased I went out and did it. But if the weather’s the same next week, I think I’ll be up an hour earlier!
